Overview, client’s needs, and challenges:
Our client, a well-known consultancy in the London Market Insurance was commissioned by the end client, an Insurance service provider to help deliver a Greenfield solution. ARUVI partnered with the client in defining and delivering the testing needs on this project.
The project’s objective was to deliver a platform on which several new applications would reside. The platform had a significant role in the end client’s vision of eventually replacing legacy premiums and claims processing systems.
Appropriate and sufficient testing had to be performed on the platform and quality demonstrated prior to deploying it to production. However, the challenge was there were serious gaps in the testing skillset and no test plan or strategy was in place. There was no clarity on the testing required, and quality attributes to be proven to obtain approval for delivery into production. There was not much time left to the previously planned go-live date.
ARUVI’s Solution:
By clearly identifying the problems and the ask of the client, ARUVI swiftly defined the test strategy, obtained key stakeholders’ feedback, and ratified the essential testing to be performed. As this was an infrastructure project, various types of non-functional requirements had to be tested and demonstrated. Risk based approach was proposed and adopted to ensure the focus on essential requirements. ARUVI conducted workshops with technical SMEs and stakeholders to define and agree on the in scope and out of scope requirements, approach to testing and evidence necessary for sign-off. A schedule was put together, clearly stating the dependencies, and was clarified and communicated to wider team.
Outcome and Benefits:
ARUVI’s test strategy tackled the massive testing gap in time for go-live. With clarity of in scope and out of scope requirements, team’s effort was focussed on what was essential. With clear expectation management and regular communication to stakeholders on progress, risks and issues, client always had the up to date and true status of the project. The quality attributes of the solution were successfully demonstrated in time for its previously planned go-live dates.
